Always was a big fan of these guys. The thing is that I find that I like different phases of their music as time goes along. I remember being at Jones Beach about to see the Dan and this was my current favorite song. Of course I FREAKED when they opened up the show with it!!! What an odd/awesome song to open up a concert with. WOW!

One of the best songs ever, and the guitar is
just as you describe it. Very satisfying on every
level. I hear some neil young in the guitar sound,
so there is some music like it. Still, there are only
so many notes to go around, let's share them.

I love the staticy tone on the lead guitar, as apol7lo mentioned. As one of Steely Dan's younger fans, I can certainly appreciate inventive and unique sounds when all the music aimed at my age group has that cookie-cutter sound.

If I'm not mistaken ....that is Jeff "The Skunk" Baxter on lead. My alltime favorite!!

The first verse hooks you, and you're helpless...nothin' you can do.

I agree with what you say about DJs and radio programmers today. I think they have always been a cowardly bunch. Think of the great metal groups of early 70s that made it all the way without a hit for year or barely a hit or two. In fact, some never quite made it though they should have (Iggy and the Stooges) . Black Sabbath, early Aerosmith, Kiss, and others who seldom ever showed up on radio but are legends by now. Too bad you didn't snag the disco queens and THEN discover Boston Rag ;-)
